What is Pack and Ship?
Pack and Ship is JASCI's high-velocity packing workflow for orders that are ready to ship. Found under Outbound → Packing → Pack & Ship, it provides the fastest path from picked LPNs to shipped packages with minimal operator interaction.
The workflow is simple: scan your workbench, scan an LPN (or pull from putwall/cart), confirm or rate-shop carrier options, and click Process Shipment. The system handles weight capture, label generation, inventory updates, and immediately returns to scan the next LPN.

QWhat's the difference between Pack and Ship and other packing workflows?
Pack and Ship is the most direct workflow—scan LPN, enter shipping details, ship. Pack Singles is similar but optimized for single-item orders with product verification. Pack Scan Product is for multi-item orders requiring SKU-level verification. Choose Pack and Ship when verification happened during picking or when speed is the priority.
QHow does Auto Ship work?
When enabled (Control 24), if an order already has carrier, service, weight, and box dimensions, JASCI will process the shipment automatically without displaying the packing screen. The operator just scans and moves to the next LPN. If any required data is missing, the packing screen displays as normal.
QCan I pack from a pick cart?
Yes, with cart-based packing (Control 09), you scan the cart first, then scan each slot's LPN to ship. The system guides you through slots with ready work, auto-frees slots after shipping, and releases the cart when all slots are complete.
QHow does multi-piece shipment work?
For multi-carton orders, the 'Process Shipment' button changes to 'Next Carton' for all but the last carton. Each carton's weight and dimensions are captured, then all cartons ship together in one consolidated carrier request.
QWhat happens if a product requires serial capture?
The system prompts for serial numbers when products require them. You can scan regular barcodes or 2D/UDI barcodes (with Control 21). V5.5 adds validation for MED barcodes—expiration date and serial are retrieved from the barcode and validated against Work_Type_Lines.Inventory_Control01 and Serial01. Serials are recorded on the order lines.
QHow do I void or reprint a shipment?
Enter the tracking number in the LPN scan field—the system recognizes it and allows void. For reprints, click the Reprint Label button for the previous shipment's label. Both functions work without leaving the workflow.
QDoes JASCI support flat-rate and regional-rate shipping?
Yes, flat-rate and regional-rate services are fully supported. When rate shopping, JASCI identifies carrier-provided packaging options, displays the correct container name, and passes appropriate dimensions to the carrier API.
QWhat is third-party shipping account support?
When a carrier requires third-party billing (FUT_C1_06), JASCI validates that the sales order has a third-party account number before allowing shipment. This ensures compliant billing for customer-provided carrier accounts.
